Rick Stein at Coogee Beach presents its first-ever Christmas in July. A one‑off feast on Sunday 12 July, followed by Rick's Christmas menu running alongside our à la carte to the end of the month.

THE STORY

For Rick Stein, a Cornishman to his core, Christmas isn't really summer.

It's frost on the windows, the lights along a winter harbour, the slow roast, the fire going. Forty Christmases in Padstow have made the case clear: Christmas dinner belongs in winter weather.

This July, at his Australian flagship, Rick brings his Christmas to the edge of the Pacific. The turkey is his recipe, roasted slowly with all the proper trimmings. The pudding is the one his family has been making for decades. And because we're at the seaside — not Padstow — you can swap the bird for a half lobster Thermidor.

It's not Christmas in July as a gimmick. It's Christmas as the English know it, finally in the right weather.

Very much a special occasion dish. Balmain bug and prawns wrapped in butter puff pastry, served alongside a shellfish cream sauce

Roast Turkey with All the Trimmings

Roasted turkey with chestnut stuffing, Christmas ham, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and the all-important gravy

The classic French dish, served in the shell with a white wine, cream, mustard and Parmesan sauce. Served with buttered new potatoes and salad.

  • Yes — the launch feast is a curated, multi-course Christmas menu, from canapés on arrival through to Christmas pudding. Choose between Rick's roast turkey or the lobster Thermidor upgrade as your main.

  • Your seat at the feast includes arrival canapés, your main course (turkey or lobster), trimmings and sides, and Christmas pudding to finish. Beverages are charged on consumption. Final inclusions to be confirmed with menu launch.

  • Absolutely. From 14 to 31 July, the Christmas menu runs à la carte alongside our regular menu.
